U2 have announced their first dates for a major world tour in 2027, with performances across Latin America, in a post shared on Instagram. The tour marks their return to stadium concerts and will support their first album of entirely new material in nearly a decade, titled ‘Carnaval De Luz.’
The band revealed where the initial stops will take place across the region.
U2’s announcement reads: “CARNAVAL DE LUZ PRESENTS: THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH WORLD TOUR 2027… For our first stops…. Mexico City, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires.”
The band also provided information about ticket access. “Mexico City — Artist Presale sign-ups are now open to all, with presale beginning 22 October at 10am local time.”
U2 are returning to stadium concerts with this tour, which will support their new album of original songs.
Carnaval De Luz is U2’s sixteenth studio album, arriving on November 13. The album marks the band’s first collection of new material in nine years and was recorded by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., produced by Jacknife Lee. The creative work connects to two EPs released in 2026—Days of Ash and Easter Lily—positioned around the liturgical calendar, with Carnaval De Luz placed before Lent and the renewal associated with Easter.
The album closing track “Torn” is a duet between Bono and the late Dolly Parton, featuring a co-write by U2, Dolly Parton and Johnny McDaid. This marks Parton’s last recorded vocal performance. The album also includes collaborations from Brian Eno on three tracks, Martin Garrix on ‘Glorify’, and Daniel Lanois playing pedal steel on ‘Torn’.
These concerts mark U2’s first stadium performances since The Joshua Tree Tour ended at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on December 15, 2019. The band subsequently performed 40 concerts at Sphere in Las Vegas in 2023 and 2024, though drummer Larry Mullen Jr. missed those performances due to health problems. Mullen Jr. will rejoin U2 for this tour, reuniting the familiar quartet for their first worldwide concert outing in eight years.
The announcement comes during the band’s 50th anniversary year. U2 celebrated this milestone on September 25 with surprise performances at Mount Temple Comprehensive School and on Grafton Street in Dublin.
