Tony Iommi has expressed concerns about Black Sabbath’s upcoming final performance. He shared his uncertainties about the monumental event in an interview with Music Week.

The guitarist discussed his apprehensions about the show’s logistics and the unknown factors surrounding the performance.

“This would be a big, monumental thing if it all comes good,” Iommi said. “The worrying thing for me is the unknown. We don’t know what’s going to happen.”

He elaborated on the differences between this show and their previous touring experiences.

“Normally, when we’d tour, we’d rehearse and run through the thing for a while, and it’s just us,” he continued. “But with this event there are so many other moving parts.”

Iommi also addressed concerns about Ozzy Osbourne’s physical condition for the performance.

“You’re used to Ozzy running around, but he certainly won’t be doing that for this show,” he said. “I don’t know if he’s going to be standing or sitting on a throne or what.”

Despite his worries, the guitarist acknowledged that once the performance begins, the familiar rhythm of playing together should take over.

“Once we start playing, then we’ll know we’re doing it,” Iommi concluded. “It’s always a worry, even when we did tours before, there’s always that build-up, and then it gets to the point that we do it and it’s okay.”

Iommi’s concerns about the upcoming performance come amid ongoing health challenges. These challenges have shaped Black Sabbath’s recent touring decisions.

MetalSucks reported that Iommi has been managing his health after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2012. He regularly checks his immune system and follows a regimen of B12 vitamin shots and a better diet to keep his condition under control. The guitarist has been open about his health struggles. He acknowledged that his condition has been “up and down” in recent years.

The band’s decision to limit major performances was significantly influenced by these health considerations. Rock and Roll Garage noted that Black Sabbath’s final tour concluded in 2017. This marked the end of their extensive touring career due to Iommi’s health concerns. Their final performances are particularly significant for both the band and their fans.

Iommi’s health challenges have required him to remain cautious about his activities and commitments. Blabbermouth revealed that despite these ongoing health issues, he remains active and motivated. He has had to adapt his approach to performing and touring.

The guitarist’s concerns about Ozzy’s physical condition for the show also reflect the broader health challenges both founding members have faced in recent years. These factors have made any potential Black Sabbath performance a carefully considered decision. Multiple logistical and health-related variables need to be managed for a successful show.
