Tommy Lee Criticizes The Mayweather-Paul Fight For Turning The Sport Of Boxing Into WWE

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee shared a post on his official Twitter page criticizing the highly anticipated match between former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather and famous YouTuber and professional boxer Logan Paul while stating that Showtime Boxing turned boxing into WWE and revealed that it’ll be the last fight he watched.

As many of you might know, Floyd Mayweather was named ‘Fighter of the Decade’ for the 2010s after winning fifteen major world titles including The Ring in five weight classes, the lineal championship in four weight classes, and retired with an undefeated record. Despite being a retired boxer since 2015, Mayweather made a one-fight comeback in 2017 and the world was curious to see his fight with the infamous YouTuber after being away from the rings for four years.

There’s no doubt that Mayweather is an exceptionally successful boxer, Logan Paul, on the other hand, is primarily known as a YouTuber who currently has over 2.7 million followers on YouTube and has been a social media personality starting from Vine back in 2013. In addition to being one of the most controversial internet personalities due to his absurd videos including disrespectful actions towards the LGBTQ+ community, animal rights, and so many more, Paul decided to become a professional boxer as well.

The unexpected match was announced on December 6, 2020, when it was revealed that the iconic boxer Mayweather would face YouTube personality Logan Paul in an exhibition bout on February 20, 2021. The fight, however, was postponed and took place on June 6, 2021, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The highly awaited match landed with a draw despite Paul entering the ring 30 pounds bigger and with a six-inch reach advantage.

Being one of the people who watched the match as a boxing fan, Tommy Lee recently shared a post on his official Twitter page criticizing and insulting Showtime Boxing for turning the fight into a disaster. After thinking that he may have not made his point clear enough, Mötley Crüe drummer shared another post stating that they turned the sport of boxing into a WWE and it’s nothing but a joke. Not being satisfied with what he has seen during the match, Lee stated that it’s the last fight he has seen by Showtime since the ‘real fighters’ in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Here is what Lee said:

“Hey Showtime Boxing, Showtime, aka shit showtime your coverage of the Floyd fight is absolutely a shitshow! Thanks”

He added:

“Ya know …the sport of boxing has officially turned into WWE … it’s a fucking joke! That’s my last fight I’ll watch. UFC is where real fighters fight ….fuck boxing”
