An unreleased solo album by Tobias Forge, completed in 2008, has been sold for a substantial sum, highlighting the Ghost frontman’s early musical endeavors before fully committing to the band’s discography.

The vocalist apparently took a solo detour in 2008, crafting an album titled ‘Passiflora.’ This project predates his focused effort on Ghost, which was formed in 2006 and has since seen Forge dedicating his creative skills to its growing success.

The existence of ‘Passiflora’ suggests a brief period when the singer explored music outside the collaborative framework of a band, though it’s speculated the material could have been intended for one of his pre-Ghost bands like Subvision.

The Sale Of ‘Passiflora’

In a surprising turn of events, a CD version (a burned CDr, to be precise) of this elusive album was sold on Discogs for $5,434 in January. This sale ranks it among the priciest items sold on the platform for that month, underscoring the high demand and rarity of Forge’s solo work.

The album ‘Passiflora’ remains largely a mystery, with only a select few having the privilege of hearing it in full. However, a couple of tracks, ‘House of Affection’ and ‘In Enigma Schiffer,’ have found their way to YouTube, offering fans a glimpse into Forge’s solo creative process.

The Ghost Connection

It’s interesting to note that during the time Tobias was working on ‘Passiflora,’ he also penned ‘Stand by Him,’ a track that would later become a cornerstone of Ghost’s debut album, ‘Opus Eponymous.’

In more recent news, Forge confirmed to Metal Hammer magazine in December that he is in the process of writing songs for the next Ghost album following the success of ‘Impera.’ The vocalist likened his songwriting approach to that of a chef managing multiple restaurants, each with its unique flair but sharing a common ‘secret sauce.’

You can listen to the two songs from his unreleased solo effort below.
