Steve Nicks has been involved in some well-known romantic relationships. One of the most famous was with her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham. Still, her relationship with Don Henley, the drummer and co-vocalist of the Eagles, is also an important part of her history.

Henley and Nicks started dating after she broke up with Fleetwood Mac. Although it was short-lived, the couple’s relationship was intense and special for both sides. Stevie discussed her bond with Henley on American television in the 1980s, saying:

“Well, Don always treated me very special. He always kinda treated me like we were married, in that strange sorta way, he still does, whenever I see him. I think he found in me something that he has not probably found since, and that was somebody that was very…”

Detailing Don’s approach to her, the singer continued:

” It was 1976; this was right after the beginning of when Fleetwood Mac really made it, and The Eagles had been big for a long time. So, he found a very different kind of girl in me than in most of the women that he was used to hanging out with, and we had a very special relationship because of that.”

Nicks got pregnant by Henley but chose to have an abortion then. Their short romance also influenced the song ‘Sara’ on the 1979 album ‘Tusk.’ This ballad was inspired by Nicks’ breakup with Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood and her discovery of his relationship with her best friend Sara, but it was also rumored to be related to her unexpected pregnancy with the Eagles member.

The pair stayed friends after their breakup. In 1981, they sang together on ‘Leather and Lace’ from Stevie’s debut solo album ‘Bella Donna.’ The song did so well that it reached number six on the US Billboard Hot 100. They even went on tour together in 2005 for The Two Voices Tour.
