The woman even described their three-year relationship as ‘emotionally abusive, manipulative, and toxic.’ Three of his accusers previously had said Butler used his fame to pressure them into sexual encounters; a fourth had said Win sexually assaulted them on two occasions, including once sticking his hand into their pants without consent, and the fifth accuser further put the musician on the spot.
In light of the allegations, Butler and Arcade Fire’s navigation through the controversy and their attempt to repair the damage caused to their image and reputation was to continue with the tour after several apologies. So following the initial allegations, Arcade Fire went ahead with their tour in support of their latest album, ‘We.’ The openers for the trek, Feist and Beck, however, both dropped off amidst the allegations.
