The Time Michael Jackson Challenged Michael Jordan To Basketball

Besides the court, Michael Jordan also gave music, specifically starring in a music video a chance by teaming up with Michael Jackson for his song ‘Jam.’ The duo’s collaboration came out in 1992 and was a massive hit.

The official music video had both the MJ’s teaching one another their craft. While Jordan thought Jackson how to play ball, Jackson showed the basketball star how to move like him. Here’s what the singer and dancer had to say about working with Michael Jordan:

“I got to work with the greatest sports legend of all time, Michael Jordan. We had to play one on one, it was so embarrassing. He never missed, that was the object, for him to teach me to play basketball and for me to teach him to dance.”

While Jackson had described his one on one with Jordan ’embarrassing,’ during this time, Jordan had similar feelings. The NBA player shared what he thought about the project before saying yes to working with Michael Jackson. He said:

“First I said, ‘I don’t know if I want to do this, because this guy’s going to try to get me out there to dance, and that’s going to be really embarrassing.’ But then I said: ‘Well, shoot, it’s Michael Jackson. When would you ever get an opportunity to get to know him socially for a little bit, and yet at the same time, get to do his video?’ So I changed my mind and went on and did it.”
