When it comes to music, certain voices soar higher than the rest, reaching notes that only a handful of people can. These voices are like precious gems, each unique, rare and beautiful in its own right. But, when trying to pick the brightest star among them, the task becomes as tricky as trying to pluck a single rose petal from a blooming garden.

One voice, in particular, has been a source of inspiration and admiration for many musicians. It could be likened to a siren’s call since it captivates the hearts and minds of those who hear it. This voice can be described as a symphony of power and emotion, leaving fans in awe and others trying to emulate it. The singer behind this voice has left an indelible mark on the music industry, creating a legacy that will echo through time, and Chris Cornell was one of those who were captivated by it.

Chris Cornell revealed in an interview with Yahoo Music in 2015 that his favorite voice was Freddie Mercury. “I think Freddie Mercury is probably the best of all time, in terms of a rock voice,” he said. “There was a vulnerability to it, his technical ability was amazing, and so much of his personality would come out through his voice. I’m not even a guy to buy Queen records, really, and I still think he’s one of the best.”

The late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer was known to be a huge fan of Mercury. He had once said, “Freddie Mercury had a powerful, almost operatic voice and a stage presence that was undeniable.” In fact, Cornell even covered the Queen classic ‘Black Hole Sun’ in tribute to Mercury’s powerful vocals.

It’s hard to compare the two, as they each had their own distinct style, and both were true innovators in their own right. Nonetheless, what brings them together is their undeniable impact on the rock scene and the way they both continue to inspire future generations of musicians. Their voices were like instruments, capable of evoking emotions, memories, and dreams.

They were both storytellers, weaving their lyrics into a tapestry of sound that resonated with millions. Like two shining stars in the sky, Chris Cornell and Freddie Mercury both illuminated the rock scene with their unique talents, leaving a trail of light that will forever shine in the hearts of music lovers around the world.
