Keith Richards’ son, Marlon Richards, has revealed that The Rolling Stones are currently in the studio working on a new album. The recording process is nearly complete. The information was shared in a recent interview with Record Collector Magazine.

Marlon Richards provided details about the band’s current recording activities and their typical studio schedule.

“They’re in town right now, recording. They’re in Chiswick [West London] or somewhere like that; I think they’re nearly done,” he said. “They still maintain these ridiculous hours: after lunch until, like, two in the morning. I’d rather be somewhere else at that time of night! Unless you’re in it, it’s pretty boring.”

The younger Richards also suggested that the band’s recent Grammy win has motivated them to continue creating new material.

“I guess an album – they have enough left over from the last one. They gave them a Grammy, so now they’re all hyped up on that: ‘Oh, yeah – we can do another one like that! We’ve got more like that if you want…’,” he continued. “I think they’re doing the follow-up.”

This new recording project builds on the remarkable success of the band’s recent comeback album. The album marked a significant milestone in their legendary career.

The Independent reported that The Rolling Stones are recording this new album at Metropolis Studios in West London. This is the same location where their 2023 comeback album Hackney Diamonds was created. The choice to return to the same studio suggests the band found a creative environment that worked well for their recent Grammy-winning material.

The previous album Hackney Diamonds represented a major achievement for the legendary rock band. It marked their first collection of original material in 18 years. AXS TV noted that the album was produced by Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt. He is collaborating with the band again on this follow-up project. This continuity in production suggests the Stones are building on the successful formula that earned them recent critical acclaim.

The new album is reportedly progressing well. 98.7 The Shark indicated that the project comprises 13 tracks so far. It is expected to be released by late 2025, possibly around the holiday season. This timeline aligns with Marlon Richards’ observation that the recording process is nearly complete.

The band’s decision to focus on studio work represents a strategic shift in their recent plans. Originally, The Rolling Stones had planned a large US and European tour for 2025. Scheduling conflicts caused them to cancel the European leg. They chose studio work over touring for the time being. This pivot brings renewed focus to creating fresh material. Fans eagerly await this following the critical and commercial success of their previous record.

The revelation indicates that fans may soon have new Rolling Stones material to anticipate. This builds on the momentum from their previous Grammy-winning work and continues the legacy of one of rock’s most enduring bands.
