The Time Ted Nugent Wanted To Run For President, ‘I Know How To Fix America’
Rock Veteran Ted Nugent has a successful music career that spans over nearly five decades throughout which the rocker managed to release a number of classic records in the history of rock music. Regardless of the personal opinions about him, there’s no denying that Nugent is a staple name in rock music thanks to albums such as ‘Cat Scratch Fever,’ ‘‘Free-for-All,’ and ‘ Tooth Fang and Claw.’
Nugent’s outspoken conservative political views, on the other hand, draw way more attention than his music career and oftentimes his controversial statements overshadow his music. The rocker is a strong supporter of the Republican Party and has countless aggressive opinions about numerous people including former President Barack Obama and current President Joe Biden.
Primarily being known for his political views now more than ever, we’re here today to take a look into times when Ted Nugent attempted to step into playing an active role in the political scene of the United States. From alleging that he’s running for president to publicly stating his consideration for running for government office, let’s break down Nugent’s ventures.
Ted Nugent Publicly Speculated Running For Government Office
Despite Ted Nugent has never officially run for government office, the rocker announced his enthusiasm on several occasions. At the beginning of the 2000s, Nugent announced he’s considering running for governor of Michigan numerous times. Prior to this, he had been rumored to be under consideration by the Illinois Republican Party as its candidate in that state’s 2004 Senate race in Illinois as well.
In many interviews, the musician constantly stressed how he was serious about his action to run for government office due to the candidates that lack respect for the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Furthermore, Nugent even revealed his future projects during interviews should he was elected to political office and stated that he would get rid of all the redundant and wasteful people.
Ted Nugent Announced He’ll Run For President Quite A Few Times
There’s no doubt that Ted Nugent considers himself as a perfect president for America and he would love to run for president of the United States as a Republican. Furthermore, Ted Nugent once strictly expressed his desire to run during an interview with CBS Detriot back in 2016 and his statements were bold as usual.
Throughout the interview, Ted Nugent stated that he knows exactly how to fix the United States’ problems which are both simple and stupid at once. Despite not telling how he’ll be able to simply ‘fix’ America, Nugent said people shouldn’t be working at jobs they aren’t willing to which is somehow related to France, according to him.
In his own words, Ted Nugent said:
“If we don’t get it right this time, I’m going to run, and I know how to fix America, it’s so simple it’s stupid. The hundred million Americans looking for work or looking at a list of jobs they’re not willing to do. You can’t do that anymore. If you want to act like a French person, move to France, only productive Americans who earn their own way get to keep the stuff they earn. If you don’t earn it, you don’t get it.”
While his statement started off pretty brave, Uncle Ted wasn’t serious with his claim since he never sought the office to run for president. Although Nugent can be the most politically active rocker there is, he’s still preaching to his fans via Facebook Livestreams and never made it to the government office or the White House to this day.
