The Pretty Reckless And Remaining Soundgarden Members Release A New Song, ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now’
The official Instagram account of Soundgarden, which was recently taken over by the remaining members of the band from Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky, posted the teaser of their latest collaboration with The Pretty Reckless and thanked the band for inviting them to play.
As you may know, the band’s latest album ‘Who You Selling For‘ was released in 2016, and it ranked No.13 on the US Billboard 200 charts. However, this success was followed by the tragic loss of Momsen’s friend and idol Chris Cornell and their long-time producer and close friend Kato Khandwala.
These unfortunate passings really scarred the band members, and in specific Taylor Momsen, and they took a break for four years. In 2019, it was rumored that the band would soon start working on a new album and in the summer of 2020, The Pretty Reckless released the first single named ‘Death By Rock and Roll‘ from their upcoming album.
The whole album ‘Death By Rock and Roll’ was released in February 2021, and ranked No. 1 on iTunes and Amazon Music. One of the tracks that had the biggest sentimental value was ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now‘ as it featured Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron and guitarist Kim Thayil.
The Soundgarden members were clearly very happy to collaborate with The Pretty Reckless, with whom they had co-headlined prior to Chris Cornell’s passing. Just some hours ago, Kim Thayil expressed his excitement for the release of the music video of ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now’ and advised their fans to check it out.
Kim Thayil expressed his excitement in the caption of Soundgarden’s Instagram post using the following words:
“Hey Kids! Check out the new single and video for The Pretty Reckless’s ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now‘ featuring Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil (Hey! I’m that guy!).
Thank you to Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips, Jamie Perkins, and Mark Damon for inviting me and Matt to play on this cool song and in the video from their killer album, ‘Death by Rock and Roll.’
Cheers, brothers and sisters!
