The Offspring’s Noodles recently sat down to have a chat with Jesea Lee. During the interview the guitarist recalled when he met The 1975’s Matty Healy and talked about Machine Gun Kelly’s portrayal of Tommy Lee in the 2019 movie ‘The Dirt.’ Noodles explained:
“You know what I’ve met the guy [MGK] a couple of times I really like him. He puts on a great show, he mixes it up. He does some of the you know the pop-punk stuff that he’s doing as well as some of the hip-hop stuff we just played with him in Spain I believe in Madrid. We hung out with him.”
Noodles shared that he enjoyed how MGK brought Lee on to the big screen by adding:
“But I like MGK I gotta say you know his portrayal of Tommy Lee in ‘The Dirt’ it’s great. I think there’s a lot of you know as far as did that really happen or this really happened… I’d like to believe it all. I think there’s a lot of a lot of spice in that dirt.”
Noodles wasn’t the only one who enjoyed MGK’s transformation. Tommy did an interview with Tone Deaf in 2020, praising the singer for his dedication to the role. He even shared that he barely gave any notes to MGK, but he even managed to nail ‘those drums twirls and stick twirls.’
When The Offspring played in Spain, the band also happened to run into The 1975. The rocker recalled meeting Matty and shared a funny story. He continued:
“I [also] met Matty [Healy] from The 1975. Yeah, it was cool it was interesting. It was really funny because Matty’s was there on this table or I guess it was like a round couch, a round sofa just laid out in the middle of the sun and he’s out there just in lounge pants laying back smoking a joint. It was right before we were leaving to go to the stage and I saw him I go, ‘Dude you’re just the rock star right now.”
