Lead singer Justin Hawkins of The Darkness has been diagnosed with a chest infection, the band announced through their official Instagram account.
“It is with great regret that we have to announce that Justin has been diagnosed with a chest infection this morning, and told by the doctor that he cannot sing for a few days,” the band stated.
“As a result, The Darkness’ shows and VIP events in Newcastle and Manchester will be rescheduled,” the announcement continued.
New dates for the affected shows will be announced in the coming days. This health setback comes at a crucial moment during the band’s Dreams On Toast UK Tour.
RadioX revealed details of the band’s extensive 18-date UK tour. The journey began on March 6, 2025, at Ipswich Regent Theatre. It will culminate in a major performance at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on March 29.
Hello Rayo confirmed the cancellation affects two shows. The March 21 performance was scheduled at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall. The March 22 show, which had sold out, was set for Manchester’s O2 Apollo.
WhyNow highlighted the tour’s significance for the band. Their new album ‘Dreams On Toast’ will be released on March 28, 2025. The band released their latest single ‘I Hate Myself’ in January 2025.
The band completed a series of intimate shows in December 2024. They performed at venues across London, Nottingham, and Liverpool to showcase tracks from their upcoming album.
