The Cadillac Three appeared in a new interview with Louder Sound to share their memories with other rockers such as Lemmy Kilmister, Steven Tyler, Jack White, and Billy Gibbons.

The singer Jaren Johnston shared his memory with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and recalled the weirdest gifts he received from him.

Gibbons Was A Giftgiver

During the interview, Johnston recalled The Cadillac Three’s first tour being with ZZ Top, and shared his experience of being on the same stage with the band. Apparently, Gibbons was a giftgiver and he liked gifting random things to everybody on the tour. He recalled the ‘weird’ gifts he was given by the ZZ Top rocker:

“He’s always buying gifts for everybody on the tour. Random sh*t, man. I remember walking by his dressing room once and he says: ‘Hey Jaren, I got this for you today at a flea market,’ and he pulls out this little made-in-China pocket knife and it says on it: ‘From the Rev to Jaren.'”

A pocket knife might be an interesting gift, but there is even more interesting and weird ones. He continued with two more:

“Another time, we go in there and he says: ‘Check this out, man,’  and he pulls out this cocaine vial. It’s obviously not full of cocaine. He goes: ‘Hey, I got this today. It’s full of ghost pepper chilli powder. You sprinkle this on some chocolate ice cream and things get real weird.’ So I took it home, and my wife and I did that – and I’m pretty sure we made love for hours.”

‘If ZZ Top Can Do It, Why Can’t We?’

The Cadillac Three started their music career in 2011 and has been continuing with the same lineup as a trio since then. ZZ Top, another band of trios, had a show with the band on October 14, 2011, leading them to gain recognition and, apparently, ‘teach them a lot.’

The band may have had plans of no longer being a three-piece, but the bassist Kelby Ray made it clear that the band actually helped them stay as a three-piece band:

“One of the reasons I think we gravitated towards being a three-piece in the first place is that we’d already done shows with ZZ Top, and it was like, ‘If ZZ Top can do it, why can’t we?'”
