The 1969 Film Featuring Keith Richards Of The Rolling Stones
It’s not that surprising to see a talented musician in a movie either for a cameo appearance or an important role in the cast. Many artists have appeared in films, acting like themselves or fictional characters, sometimes in movies about the music business or not — such as Dave Grohl, Flea, Meat Loaf, Michael Jackson.
It appears that one of them is the Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Apart from his successful music career with the Stones, Richards is also known for his appearances in three ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ films as Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague. As it seems, the guitarist also appeared in a lesser-known 1969 movie.
Keith Richards Appeared In The 1969 Film ‘Man On Horseback’ As Soldier
On April 11, 1969, the West German drama film titled ‘Man On Horseback’ premiered. Directed by Volker Schlöndorff and based on Heinrich von Kleist’s novel ‘Michael Kohlhaas,’ the film entered into the 1969 Cannes Film Festival and was well-received at that time.
In the movie, Keith Richards made an uncredited appearance as the soldier. Along with Keith Richards, the casting also included Italian-born actress Anita Pallenberg, with whom Richard was deeply in love at that time. She appeared in the film as Katrina, who was a saleswoman.
‘Man On Horseback’ takes place in medieval times and is about the horse trader Kohlhaas, treated unjustly by aristocrats. He then begins to fight against injustice with a group of outlaws. Although Richards’ role wasn’t that big in that film, it’s still interesting that he accompanied his love Pallenberg by playing a small part at that time.
