“Most of this year we’ve been in the studio working on the new Megadeth music, starting with songwriting, getting in the studio and jamming together, arranging the songs, recording demos, getting all the little details right, getting the final takes and slowly crafting the music to its best form,” Mäntysaari said.

The guitarist expressed enthusiasm about the project’s current status and timeline.

“Currently, we are very close to completing the recordings for the album,” he continued. “I think the songs are sounding great, and I am super excited for you guys to hear it soon as well. So I hope you guys stay patient for just a little bit longer. New music and a lot of other exciting things are on the way.”

Fans on Reddit discussed the incident. One fan said, “What’s the point of blurring the board? You can’t see much, and Dave already said they recorded 15 songs for the new album anyway.” Another fan wrote, “I think that a while back Dave said 12 songs for the listing on the album, and like 3 bonus track covers for special editions or something.”

This recording update marks another milestone in Mäntysaari’s journey with Megadeth. His tenure with the legendary thrash metal band began in late 2023.

Blabbermouth reported that Mäntysaari replaced Kiko Loureiro as Megadeth’s guitarist and quickly became a key part of the band’s sound and recording process. The Finnish musician brought extensive experience from his work with melodic death metal band Wintersun. He built his reputation for technical precision and melodic phrasing there.

The guitarist’s commitment to quality extends beyond his playing technique to his choice of equipment. D’Addario noted that Mäntysaari credits his gear selection, including D’Addario strings, for helping him deliver clarity and durability both in live performances and studio recordings.

Mäntysaari’s background in the Finnish metal scene has proven valuable for Megadeth’s creative process. Arrow Lords of Metal highlighted that his experience with Wintersun’s complex compositions and technical demands prepared him well for the intricate songwriting and recording requirements of Megadeth’s new material.

The upcoming album represents the first full studio effort featuring Mäntysaari’s contributions to Megadeth’s legendary catalog. His integration into the band’s creative process appears seamless. This is evidenced by his hands-on involvement in the songwriting, arranging, and recording phases described in his recent video update.
