Ted Nugent wants to face the comedian who says he doesn’t know him.
During a recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, the comedians, Yannis Pappas and Chris Distefano claimed they didn’t know Nugent. Then, Rogan played his ‘Stranglehold’ but they still didn’t recognize it.
When Nugent started singing, Distefano said he heard the song before. Ted shared a clip from the podcast and wrote in the caption, “Don’t worry, Joe will educate you.”
“Who are these guys? Someone tag them,” Nugent also said in the comment section. Then, many fans tagged Pappas and Distefano. Another fan wrote, “How does anyone not know this song or Ted Nugent?”
One other person commented, “JOE, you are the MAN!! Educate this uneducated generation that grew up listening to pop crap.” Another individual said, “Wow! What planet are those guys from!”
‘Stranglehold’ is one of Nugent’s best-known songs. In a 2022 episode of The Nightly Nuge, the singer explained the track’s importance, saying, “It actually was 1967 when I first did the ‘Stranglehold’ lick. I just got off stage at the Grande Ballroom, and I got was with Steve Booker and John Souther. We jammed in a church, and I plugged into the amp they had with one of my Byrdlands.”
He continued, “It was in October, and I had been hunting that weekend. So I lived that primal scream, that tooth, fang, and law, down to earth, grounded, the celebration of God’s miraculous creation, hands-on with my bow and arrow at Manistee National Forest, 1967. I’ve been doing that my whole life, including this morning.”
“When I grabbed the guitar, Steve Booker, incredible virtuoso, and John Souther, incredible virtuoso, they said, ‘Well, what do you want to play? Will we play ‘Johnny B. Goode,’ a Beatles song, a Rolling Stones song, or a Little Richard song? But I happen to go with ‘Stranglehold,'” Ted further shared at the time.
‘Stranglehold’ is from Nugent’s debut 1975 album. Derek St. Holmes performed the vocals. Ted also sings the verse, “Sometimes you wanna get higher.”
