In a recent appearance on The Tudor Dixon Podcast, Ted Nugent talked about how he ‘fixed’ his wife Shemane, turning her into an avid hunter, a journey that started when they first met.

The rocker revealed the key to the success of his television series ‘Ted Nugent: Spirit of the Wild,’ explaining:

“The reason we’re their number one hunting show ever is because of Shemane Nugent. She does a queen of the forest segment. When she and I first met, she’d never touched a bow and arrow. She couldn’t imagine killing her own dinner.”

Embracing The Hunting Lifestyle

But things have changed since then, as Nugent went on to say:

“She never fired a gun, but Tudor, I fixed her. Now she’s the queen of the forest, and when Shemane grabs her Matthews’ bow, I sharpen my knife because I was going to be dinner coming soon.”

Since 2001, the singer has shared his hunting adventures on the Outdoor Channel’s ‘Spirit of the Wild.’ The show displays Nugent’s hunts for deer, bear, and other game across the U.S. The series reflects Ted’s passion for hunting and has become a platform for him to show this aspect of his lifestyle.

A Life-Saving Moment In Africa

Nugent’s transformation of his wife, Shemane, into an avid hunter is evident in their shared adventures. This is highlighted in an episode of Nugent’s YouTube show, ‘The Nightly Nuge,’ where Shemane recalled a hunting trip in Africa with Ted. Nugent saved Shemane’s life when a female lion stalked her. She said:

“Ted’s up in the tree, and he’s up there with his bow and arrow. The sun starts coming down; it is beautiful, and all of a sudden, he gets out of the tree and he starts walking toward me, and it is not even close to sunset yet. I said, ‘Why did you get out of the tree?’ and he said, ‘There was a lion stalking you.'”

The musician is not only known for his hunting exploits but also as a vocal advocate for the Second Amendment and hunting rights. However, his practices have attracted controversy, particularly from animal rights activists. Despite this, Nugent continues to share his experiences and thoughts on hunting, both on television and through his personal stories.
