Taylor Momsen’s Confession About Her Role In ‘Gossip Girl’

From the Upper East Side to the center stage of the music world, Taylor Momsen has come a long way since her days as Jenny Humphrey from ‘Gossip Girl.’ As we dive into this article, we’ll explore how Momsen’s role as Jenny transitioned her from her days as an actress to music. It was a natural progression and a fulfillment of her long-held passion.

In the world of entertainment, it’s not uncommon for actors to dabble in different art forms. However, for Momsen, her love for music was deeply ingrained from the beginning. The transition from acting to a full-time music career might have raised a few eyebrows, but Momsen’s devotion to her craft is evidence of her true calling.

In 2014, during a candid Q&A with Independent, Taylor opened up about her journey from being a teenage actress to leaving acting behind to becoming the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the rock band, The Pretty Reckless. However, Momsen did also discuss the challenges of shedding the public’s preconceptions about her due to her ‘Gossip Girl’ character.

Taylor also reflected on the role her acting career played in her life and how it ultimately served as a stepping stone to her true passion – music. While she confessed to the benefits of her ‘Gossip Girl’ fame, such as helping to build a fanbase for her band, she also highlighted the challenges of overcoming the public’s preconceptions about her as an actress.

Taylor Momsen’s confession about her acting read:

“It was helpful at the time in that people who were fans crossed over to being fans of the band. At the same time, it is hard work to shed public preconceptions. They see a character on TV every week and think that you really are that person. But it’s behind me. The only time it comes up is in interviews. The fans are here for the music – they’re not asking about [Gossip Girl].”

She added:

Acting was a day job. Anyone who knows me will tell you that music has always been my passion, the thing I wanted to do with my life. It was where I was going to end up. Being in a band was the goal – I’d rather be The Beatles than Elvis, you know what I mean?”

The Pretty Reckless singer emphasized that acting was merely a day job and that music had always been her true calling. Despite the challenges, her determination to follow her passion and pursue a career in music showcased her commitment to her craft and desire to be part of something greater – which showed in her preference for being in a band like The Beatles than a solo act like Elvis.
