Tarja Turunen Is Open To Collaborate With Ex-Nightwish Singer Anette Olzo

Tarja Turunen, former Nightwish vocalist, shared her thoughts about Anette Olzon in a recent Heavy Talk interview.

The discussion centered on their social media interactions and collaboration possibilities. Turunen explained that she had recently started following Olzon. She was unaware of Olzon’s planned performances in Brazil.

“Actually, I started following her recently, like recently, and I did not know that she had been planning a tour or some shows in Brazil or something like that,” Turunen said. “And a colleague, just a previous phone conversation I had, he told me that she’s been commenting [on some of my Instagram posts], and I was, like, ‘Huh. Okay. This is all news for me,’ [laughs] which is fantastic.”

Turunen expressed warmth toward her successor in Nightwish. “I’ve never met her in person — I’ve never, never ever met her in person — so I would love to give her a hug. And we have a lot to talk [about] [laughs], I think. But I wish her all the best with her journey. And so I really hope she’s happy with what she’s doing. And so, yeah, thumbs up.”

The positive exchange hints at potential future collaboration between the two former Nightwish vocalists.

This recent interaction adds a new dimension to their shared history. The two vocalists have never performed together in Nightwish.

Records from Wikipedia show that Turunen parted ways with Nightwish on October 21, 2005. The separation stemmed from personal and professional differences with the band. This event marked a crucial shift in the band’s trajectory.

Olzon took the role of Nightwish’s lead vocalist in 2007. Nightwish Wiki documents that her first album with the band, “Dark Passion Play,” launched in September 2007. The album achieved significant commercial success.

The transition between vocalists showed early signs of mutual respect. The Metal Pigeon reported that Turunen sent roses and an encouraging note to Olzon before her first major Nightwish performance.

Olzon’s time with Nightwish ended in 2012. Floor Jansen stepped in as her replacement and continues as the band’s current vocalist. Both Turunen and Olzon have since built successful solo careers. They maintain their distinct musical identities.
