Stryper has released their first single from an upcoming Christmas album, titled “Still The Light.” The announcement was made on The Official Stryper Channel.
The band made an official announcement celebrating the release of their new Christmas-themed track.
“Christmas In July! New Stryper Song!” the band announced. “Stryper is bringing the heat and the holiday spirit with their brand-new Christmas single, ‘Still the Light.'”
The release marks an early holiday offering from the veteran Christian metal group. It combines their signature sound with seasonal themes.
This latest single continues Stryper’s decades-long journey as pioneers in the Christian metal scene. IP Casino Resort reported that Stryper has remained an active force in Christian hard rock for over 35 years. The band includes three original members: brothers Michael Sweet and Robert Sweet, alongside guitarist Oz Fox and bassist Perry Richardson.
The band’s commercial success has been remarkable throughout their career. Christianity.com noted that Stryper has achieved career album sales exceeding 10 million worldwide across 19 studio albums. All of these albums have charted on Billboard.
Stryper holds a unique position in music history as pioneers of Christian metal. Wikipedia documented that they were the first openly Christian heavy metal band to gain significant mainstream recognition. They achieved crossover success with their 1986 multi-platinum album “To Hell with the Devil.”
Their journey has not been without controversy. Their blend of metal and faith-driven lyrics made them unique among their peers. Tucson Weekly revealed that they faced criticism from some Christian critics who disapproved of their association with the metal scene. They persevered to become influential figures in both Christian and mainstream rock music.
