Stone Gossard Recalls The Time Pearl Jam Touring With Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard spoke in a recent interview with Rock This with Allison Hagendorf podcast and talked about the time when they toured with Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In the conversation, Stone mentioned that the band’s reputation and fame raised after Red Hot Chili Peppers took them out alongside them for the tour and he likened it with their Aerosmith tour.
Furthermore, Gossard pointed out that these tours let other people hear out your music at the same time and connect with it, which also could help the band to create their own fan base.
In the end, Gossard admitted that touring with Red Hot Chili Peppers was one of the biggest moments of their careers and showed how important for them to play alongside such an iconic band.
Here is what Stone Gossard said:
“I don’t know if there was a specific moment, but, you know, things started to cascade and, you know, they looked up at one point and we went, okay, now, you know, I think the Chili Peppers taking us out really was that kind of moment.
I think the same kind of moment as the Aerosmith tour, where it’s sort of like MTV suddenly started paying attention and then it just translated to so many more people being able to hear your music at the same time and then, like, connect with it and go, okay, those are my new guys.
Or, you know, this is the new, this is what I want to do. So I think that the Red Hot Chili Peppers taking us out was probably as big of a moment as there was for us.”
