Sting recently joined the Sydney Morning Herald to discuss how he’s been living the second part of his life, why writing memoirs seemed unnecessary, and how his story and legacy will continue in a different way.

The Police icon is about to visit Australia for the first time in seven years for his upcoming tour, so chatting with the Australian magazine was an excellent opportunity to detail his plans and views regarding his life. As anyone might expect, things have settled down quite a lot for the 71-year-old rocker.

So, now could be the perfect time for him to write another autobiography through this new mature perspective, but Sting doesn’t seem fond of the idea. He’d written a memoir named ‘Broken Music’ back in 2005, but he sure doesn’t seem keen to write what we might call a ‘sequel,’ and his reasoning for this sounded simple.

It felt to the rocker that he was now living a new era of his life, a second part, but it seemed unnecessary to write anything down and talk about that. The musician stressed that his discography will be there for anyone who wonders about his life and worldviews, as his story will carry on through his beloved songs.

Sting on refusing to write another biography:

“I’m living the second part of my life, and whether or not I would write it down is moot. I don’t know whether I need to do that. I tell my life story every night through my songs. This is my biography.”

There certainly are times when rockers, or artists in general, might feel that there’s no need for them to explicitly share their beliefs, ideals, and feelings with the public. Their works will be there to present themselves to anyone who might be curious about their creators, and Sting seems aware of that.
