Justin Hawkins On Getting Injured After Doing A David Lee Roth Split

Justin Hawkins was one of those people who could empty their heads by going for a jog. However, the musician recently revealed that it has been a while since he has been able to do that. In his last video on his YouTube channel, the vocalist shared a story about the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert and explained why he hasn’t been able to run for a while.

“Good day to you, one and all,” he opened the video while wearing his sports clothes. “It is I, Justin Hawkins, and this is Justin Hawkins Rides Again. Out he comes, wearing all that sports gear. Well, I’ve just been jogging. It’s the first time, well, not the first time; I’ve recently started jogging again after damaging my leg in the Taylor Hawkins tribute shows by trying to do David Lee Roth’s splits-jumps.

He continued, “I did one in the LA show, I think my feet were above my head, and then when I landed, it was like, ‘Oh, ow, that hurts.’ And then the back of my leg. I told you all about that before. Anyway, it seems to be back to normal now, and I can run again.”

Justin Hawkins took the stage at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in London at the beginning of September. It was the first time the Foo Fighters members performed together since the drummer’s tragic death. Hawkins joined The Coattail Riders, the side project of the late Foo Fighter drummer, to perform a four-track setlist including ‘Range Rover Bitch’ and ‘Kota’ from Hawkins’ 2016 solo EP.

He also played two Van Halen songs with Dave Grohl and Wolfgang Van Halen. The unfortunate incident probably happened during the performance of these songs. Considering Diamond Dave’s remarkable but physically challenging splits, it’s not surprising to hear that Justin got injured, although he seems pretty athletic and fit.
