Static-X bassist Tony Campos has confirmed that the band is planning to record new material. He shared details about their upcoming projects in an interview with Bloodstock TV.
Campos discussed the band’s current priorities and timeline for new music during the interview.
“We’ve been talking about writing some new material, some new songs,” Campos said. “We have a documentary that’s in the works right now. So we’re gonna finish that first. And then, once we drop that, then we’ll revisit going in and writing some new material.”
The bassist emphasized the importance of focusing on one project at a time to ensure quality results.
“I don’t wanna juggle too many plates,” he continued. “Let’s just finish [the documentary]. Then we can focus all of our attention on new material.”
The band will complete their documentary project before moving forward with writing and recording new songs.
This announcement marks another chapter in Static-X’s ongoing journey since reforming to honor their late frontman’s legacy.
Wikipedia reported that Static-X was formed in 1994. The band rose to fame with their 1999 debut album Wisconsin Death Trip, which went platinum in the U.S. and helped define the late 1990s nu metal scene. The band’s industrial metal sound and Wayne Static’s distinctive vocal style made them a standout act during the genre’s peak years.
The band faced a significant turning point when frontman Wayne Static passed away in 2014. Wikipedia noted that after Wayne Static’s death, the remaining original members reformed the band in 2018 to honor his legacy and continue the Static-X name. This reformation allowed the band to preserve their musical heritage while moving forward.
Static-X has remained active in recent years. Pianity documented that the band released Project: Regeneration Vol. 2 in January 2024. This upcoming new material will be their first fresh music following that release. It represents the band’s continued evolution.
The documentary project Campos mentioned will likely provide fans with deeper insights into the band’s history and their journey since Wayne Static’s passing. Once completed, it will pave the way for Static-X to focus entirely on creating new music for their dedicated fanbase.
