Slipknot’s Jim Root Posts A Photo From Studio And Explains His Writing Process

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root showed how he finds inspiration during the songwriting process by sharing a new post on his official Instagram account.

In the picture, you can see that Jim was inside the studio and he was surrounded by almost every instrument that he can use. Keyboard, lots of guitars and amplifiers, as well as bass guitars.

According to Jim, putting all things around him makes it easier to get inspiration for him and said that this picture is also representing what’s going on inside his brain when he came out with lots of ideas.

Even though Jim admitted that playing for hours in this environment might not be the ideal way of the songwriting process, but he said that this is really helpful for him. Also, Jim said that he really needs to get his stuff and make a proper studio.

Here is what Jim Root said:

“A quick break from guitar posts. This is what it looks like when I try to force inspiration. Some ideas are okay some are crap and I can’t tell the difference. So I grab every guitar or bass or synth I have close by and just go. I’ll finish an arrangement even if I don’t feel it’s worth a shit.

It’s also a pretty good representation of my brain. A million things everywhere that I can’t sort through. This helps. And I really need to get my shit together and make a proper studio. Sitting on a drum throne in front of an iMac for hours isn’t ideal. Anyway. Blah blah. Some insight.”
