Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor opened up about his relationship with his wife Alicia Taylor in a conversation on Mythical Kitchen. He revealed how she has profoundly changed his life.
Taylor spoke candidly about how Alicia’s unconditional love and support transformed his understanding of relationships and helped him become a better version of himself.
“My wife is, she’s probably the first person in my life who’s loved me for me, didn’t ever want anything from me,” Taylor said. “If it wasn’t for her, honestly, I wouldn’t be here.”
He went on to describe how meeting Alicia reshaped his perspective on love and success.
“It wasn’t until I met Alicia that I realized what real love is and what real appreciation is,” he continued. “She’s my inspiration in a lot of ways, you know, because she knows who she is and she knows that without life, without family, what is success?”
Taylor also reflected on the broader cultural pressures men face when it comes to vulnerability and emotional expression.
“There’s just a different culture that we grow up with as men or… ‘Cause we’re not taught to be vulnerable. We’re not taught that being vulnerable is a show of strength. We’re not taught to be supportive. We are taught to be stoic. We are taught to be strong.”
He explained how those ingrained attitudes can have damaging consequences. He also shared that he has been working through them with professional help.
“And in a lot of ways, that encourages a lot of the negative things that permeate a masculine culture like that. And then all of a sudden we’re thrust into this place where suddenly now we need that,” Taylor added. “I mean, it’s taken three therapists all working simultaneously.”
Taylor’s remarks highlight the significant role Alicia has played in his personal growth and emotional well-being.
Alicia, formerly known as Alicia Dove, is the head of the Cherry Bombs dance group. The two first crossed paths years before becoming a couple. Their relationship began to develop romantically in 2017 when Alicia toured with Stone Sour as part of her role with the Cherry Bombs. What started as a long-standing acquaintance eventually grew into something far more significant for both of them.
The couple officially married in October 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The wedding marked a new chapter for Taylor, who had previously gone through two marriages before finding what he describes as a truly fulfilling partnership with Alicia.
Alicia has been equally open about the depth of their connection. She has described Taylor as someone who showed her what selfless love truly looks like. She stated that she did not know what real, selfless love was until she met him — a sentiment that mirrors the vulnerability Taylor himself has expressed publicly.
The mutual admiration between the two speaks to a relationship built on genuine understanding rather than circumstance. For Taylor, a rock figure known for his intensity both on and off the stage, finding that kind of grounded, unconditional support has clearly been transformative. It has shaped not just his personal life, but also how he approaches family and his own mental health.
