Slash Says The Pandemic Gave Him A Lot Of Opportunities To Focus On Writing New Music

In an interview with Sweetwater’s Nick Bowcott, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash talked about how he has spent his days during the lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic and revealed that he actually created a lot of good material.

As you might remember, Guns N’ Roses icon Slash started working on his solo album back in 2008, in which he collaborated with well-known musicians, including Osbourne, M. Shadows, Fergie, and many more. His self-titled album was released in 2010 and ranked #3 on the U.S. charts.

Later, Slash made a collaboration with Guns N’ Roses touring members; Myles Kennedy, Todd Kerns, and Brent Fitz to release his second solo album, which was titled ‘Apocalyptic Love.’ The album was released in May 2012 under the name ‘Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.’ In 2014, the highly-anticipated third solo album of Slash, ‘World on Fire,’ was released featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Most recently, the iconic guitarist released his fourth studio album named ‘Living the Dream’ again with the same collaboration in 2018.

In a recent interview he joined, Slash talked about what he has been doing at the time of the pandemic and hinted at some new music that might be released in the near future. During the conversation, Slash mentioned that he has been quite busy since he has found a lot of time to be creative. He also stated that he has been doing a lot of stuff both on his own and with his bandmates from his collaboration named Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

Furthermore, Slash mentioned that due to the fact that he had more time to spend at home, he was able to focus on his music quite easily since there wasn’t any reason to rush. He also revealed that throughout the lockdown period, he managed to create a lot of good material.

Here is what Slash stated about the new material he’s been working on:

“I’ve been really busy. If anything, this whole episode has afforded me a lot of time to be creative. So it’s been good. I do a lot of stuff on my own, and then Todd will drive in from Vegas and put the bass on everything. And then I’ll send that out to everybody. On occasion, we’ll all get together and jam. We’ve done that a couple of times over this period.”

Being at home for most of the last year has definitely given me a lot of opportunities to write and focus and to not be rushing out the door all the time. So it’s been good. There’s been a lot of good material that’s come up through this.”
