James Michael announced the new project and the album’s availability to the public. His bandmates from SIXX:A.M. offered their reactions to the news.

“A new chapter. A new band. A new album. LOWLIGHT REVELRY. ‘No Time For Shooting Stars’ Out now,” James Michael said.

Nikki Sixx commented on the announcement: “Can’t wait to dig in. Congratulations.”

DJ Ashba also offered his support. “So proud of you, brother. Can’t wait to take a listen,” he said.

James Michael’s announcement of Lowlight Revelry comes as SIXX:A.M. remains on hiatus. The new band marks a new direction for the SIXX:A.M. vocalist.

SIXX:A.M. was formed in 2007 by Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba, and James Michael as an audio accompaniment to Sixx’s autobiography The Heroin Diaries. The group released five albums over the years, starting with The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack in 2007, which featured the mainstream rock hit “Life Is Beautiful.” The band announced their hiatus in 2021, and according to James Michael, the decision came because the three friends were all burned out after years of touring and recording.

Before SIXX:A.M., James Michael released his first solo album, Inhale, in 2000, which he wrote, produced, and mixed entirely. He has also worked as a songwriter, producer, and musician for acts including Mötley Crüe, Meat Loaf, and Papa Roach.

For Lowlight Revelry, Michael moved to Northern Ireland and formed the band with guitarist Brian McCafferty and bassist Dixie Doherty. The group’s debut album, “No Time For Shooting Stars,” explores themes about the fleeting nature of life, the choices people make, and the importance of embracing the present moment.
