Simon Le Bon Expresses His Disbelief Over Duran Duran’s Rock Hall Induction

Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon recently gave an interview to Rolling Stone and said he was in disbelief after hearing the band’s Rock Hall induction.

The 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominated many artists, including Dolly Parton, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, and Duran Duran. The fan ballot was closed recently, and Duran Duran won the fan vote with almost one million votes.

The induction ceremony for the Rock Hall will take place on November 5 in LA. Moreover, this year’s induction is quite controversial since there are many artists from other genres, like the rapper Eminem, among the ‘Rock’ Hall nominees.

The other four artists on top of the fan vote leaderboard are Eminem, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics, and Dolly Parton. Just like Eminem, Parton was also at the center of the controversy as she wasn’t a rock musician, and she withdrew from the nomination due to that reason.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon revealed his thoughts on the band’s Rock Hall induction. Le Bon stated that he was in shock and disbelief upon hearing the news because he believed many other successful names were among the nominees, and Duran Duran had no chance.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Simon Le Bon said the following:

I was in shock and disbelief. I mean, we’re Duran Duran. We’re always the bridesmaid, never the bride. And we looked over the list of names and thought we didn’t really have a hope in hell.”

Although Dolly Parton withdrew from the nomination list, she decided to release a rock album to deserve the spot and accepted to be among the nominees after fans’ request. This year’s ceremony will be worth watching with notable names like Pat Benatar, Eurythmics, and the first-time inductee Duran Duran.
