Slipknot fans have taken to Reddit to share their reactions following reports of Sid Wilson’s departure from the band and a public statement from his ex-fiancée Kelly Osbourne.
TMZ reported that Sid Wilson was permanently removed from Slipknot, though the reasons behind the decision remain unclear. Shortly after, Kelly Osbourne posted a message on Instagram calling out Sid over child support for their son Sidney. She also stated she could no longer protect him from himself. Fans on Reddit responded with a range of reactions — from concerns about potential misconduct within the band to worries that Sid may be experiencing a relapse.
“Apparently fired for mistreating band members and Kelly wants child support. Like she needs it. What are we thinking?” one Slipknot fan wrote.
Another fan pointed to signs of a possible relapse as the underlying issue.
“I’m thinking relapse,” they said. “He’s sounded terrible on his recent videos — slurred, strained speech and out of breath — and Kelly mentioned ‘I can’t protect you from yourself anymore’ in reference to him. Losing a job and an engagement sounds like a spiral.”
Others focused on the child support aspect of the situation, pushing back against those defending Sid on financial grounds.
“If he has mistreated any of the bandmates then yeah, it’s reasonable to sack him as no one should have to put up with that,” a third fan said. “As for child support, it’s irrelevant how much money Kelly has or has not got. Sid has a financial responsibility to take care of his child, and anyone not contributing financially to their child is frankly an embarrassment and it’s loser behaviour, so no idea why people keep trying to defend it. If you don’t want to pay for a child, then please don’t have one!”
The situation has drawn responses from within the band itself. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root was among the first to address the swirling reports, though his message was deliberately vague. “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath,” Root wrote, urging fans to wait before drawing conclusions. His post did little to clarify the situation. It did, however, signal that the story circulating publicly may not reflect the full picture.
Wilson was notified of his permanent removal on the afternoon of July 31, the same day the news broke. No official reason was provided at the time of the announcement. The band has yet to follow up with any formal statement. Wilson himself has remained silent on the matter. When spotted entering a recording studio in Los Angeles days after the story broke, he declined to answer questions from reporters.
The reported exit would mark the end of a roughly 28-year run with the band. Wilson has been part of Slipknot since 1999, serving as the group’s DJ and keyboardist and standing as one of its original members. His departure, if confirmed, would represent one of the most significant lineup changes in the band’s history.
A follow-up report cited sources claiming Wilson’s removal was tied to bad behavior, specifically the mistreatment of his bandmates. The claim aligns with what some fans had already speculated on Reddit. It remains unverified by the band or Wilson directly. The combination of the reported firing, Kelly Osbourne’s public Instagram post, and the absence of any denial has left fans piecing together a story that neither side has fully told.
