In a social media post, the organizers of Sick New World announced that next year’s festival has been canceled.

While the reasons for canceling the event are not clear at this time, the team behind the announcement shared the following statement: “It is with great disappointment that we announce that Sick New World will no longer take place in Las Vegas on April 12, 2025,” they wrote. “Despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered unforeseen circumstances that we are unable to overcome for next year’s show. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated SNW fans who had made plans to join us for another cultural celebration of hard rock, goth, alternative and heavy music. Please stay tuned for further and future information regarding Sick New World.”

The organizers also added that ticketholders would be automatically refunded.

Both Linkin Park and Metallica were scheduled to headline the show, along with a lineup featuring Evanescence, Queens Of The Stone Age, Acid Bath, Gojira, Mastodon, and more.

Some suggest that the ‘unforeseen circumstances’ might be linked to ticket sales. General admission tickets for Sick New World 2025 started at $400, and by last night, they were priced at $450. In comparison, tickets for the 2023 event were priced at $250. For comparison, attending all four days of Welcome to Rockville costs $350 plus fees.

“All I hear from promoters is how bands guarantees are sky high and going up every year. Which in turn is passed on to you the ticket buyer in pricing of tickets. Factor in more shows than ever on the road and unfortunately you are going to see more of this I fear,” music journalist Eddie Trunk said of the festival.

It’s also possible that adding Metallica and other acts may have reduced excitement for Sick New World, since the festival had previously been marketed as a nostalgia festival focused on nu-metal bands like System of a Down and Korn.

Sick New World made its debut in 2023 with System Of A Down headlining and returned this past April with a large, sold-out crowd. The same band headlined again, along with many other bands performing on five stages.
