“I’m trying. I’m seriously thinking about running for mayor of Birmingham,” Osbourne said.

The comment suggests that the wife of late Ozzy Osbourne is actively exploring a transition from entertainment to public service. This potential political move would mark a significant career shift for the television personality and music manager.

Birmingham holds special significance for the Osbourne family, as it was the birthplace of Black Sabbath, the legendary heavy metal band that launched Ozzy’s career. Loudwire reported that the city’s Lord Mayor position is a one-year term. Zafar Iqbal currently fills the position after being sworn in on May 20, 2025.

The timing of Sharon’s political interest comes months after Birmingham paid tribute to her late husband. Loudwire noted that Iqbal attended Ozzy’s public funeral procession through the city’s streets last July. This demonstrated the deep connection between the Osbourne family and Birmingham’s civic leadership.

Sharon’s potential candidacy would represent a notable transition from entertainment to public service. Her decades of experience in television, music management, and public speaking could provide a unique perspective on municipal governance.

The Lord Mayor role in Birmingham carries ceremonial and civic responsibilities, representing the city at official functions and supporting local community initiatives. If Sharon decides to pursue the position, she would be following a path from celebrity to public service that has been taken by various entertainment figures in recent years.

Further developments regarding her potential candidacy may emerge in the coming months as Birmingham prepares for its next mayoral selection process.
