Former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach has issued an apology regarding his past relationship with Hollywood star Christina Applegate. She revealed this relationship in her new memoir, as reported by Billboard.

Bach addressed the situation after Applegate disclosed in her memoir “You With the Sad Eyes” that she had ditched a pre-fame Brad Pitt for the rock singer at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards when she was 17 years old.

“I was very surprised when that all hit. I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls and I apologize if I hurt her…if I hurt anybody,” Bach said.

The singer reflected on the chaotic nature of his rock star lifestyle during that period.

“When you’re young you get thrown into the whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll, meeting a lot of people and you better hold on tight. It’s like being on a roller coaster…It was a long time ago. If I hurt anybody, I apologize for it,” he continued.

In her memoir, Applegate wrote about the aftermath of her decision. She noted that Brad Pitt “was not surprisingly…very mad at me. Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a child, and though he deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row.”

The incident has gained renewed attention following the March 3rd release of Applegate’s memoir. This prompted Bach to address the decades-old controversy publicly.

The 1989 MTV Video Music Awards night proved to be more dramatic than initially revealed. Entertainment Now detailed that Applegate had brought Pitt as her date to the awards show, where he reportedly offered to drive her mother home after the event. During the drive, at a gas station, Pitt nearly got into a fight with gang members. This further fueled his anger over being left behind at the venue.

The fallout from that night extended far beyond the immediate aftermath. Entertainment Now revealed that the tension between Applegate and Pitt persisted for years. Pitt later told multiple of his celebrity girlfriends about the incident. Both women separately asked Applegate if she was “the girl who left Brad behind at the MTV Video Music Awards.” This highlighted how the story became part of Hollywood lore.

Bach’s recent apology came after the memoir’s release sparked renewed media attention to the 1989 incident. Loudwire confirmed that the singer told the publication on March 12 that he regretted any hurt caused by their relationship. He acknowledged the impact of his actions during his younger years in the rock music scene.

The memoir revelation has also shed light on the broader context of celebrity relationships in the late 1980s music and entertainment industry. AXS TV noted that Bach’s apology comes as he continues to reflect on his past while discussing his current projects, including his involvement with Twisted Sister’s next chapter.
