At the Oscars 2024 red carpet, John Lennon’s younger son, Sean Ono Lennon, had an interesting idea for casting him in an upcoming movie about the Beatles.

Speaking to Variety, Sean suggested that Emma Stone, nominated for Best Actress for her role in ‘Poor Things,’ should consider playing his father:

“Well I’m hoping that Emma Stone might consider it, because she did such a good job in ‘Poor Things’ and I think if you’re going to reach like that as an actor, the next obvious step is to really go for it.”

Casting His Father Will Be Hard, He Says

On February 20, filmmaker Sam Mendes announced plans to direct four movies about the Beatles, telling their story from each member’s perspective. Sean talked about the challenge waiting for Mendes in casting Lennon and his bandmates by saying:

“I’m not much of a filmmaker – I guess I am now – but I do think with someone as famous as my dad, it’s very hard to cast a film like that.”

Referring to successful biopics like 2007’s ‘La Vie en Rose’ and 2004’s ‘Ray,’ the artist added:

“So, you can pull it off, and I think we’re going to do a good job, so I’m excited.”

Sean was at the 96th Academy Awards as a writer and executive producer of ‘War Is Over!,’ an animated short film inspired by the music his parents created. The film was a winner in its category, competing against other nominees such as ‘Letter To A Pig,’ ‘Ninety-Five Senses,’ ‘Our Uniform,’ and ‘Pachyderme.’
