Scott Weiland’s son Noah Weiland recently addressed persistent comments claiming he is actually Chris Cornell’s son. He made a statement in a video shared on Instagram.
Noah posted the video to promote his new song ‘Sex and Shock Value’. It quickly turned into a response to ongoing speculation about his parentage.
“Scott Weiland is not my father. Okay? Y’all already caught me the first time,” Noah said. “I see tons of comments every single time I post, saying, ‘Oh, Chris Cornell, your brother. Is Chris Cornell your dad?’ Yes, the f*ck he is, okay?”
Noah continued his statement with apparent frustration at the persistent comments.
“So stop. Leave me alone. Leave Scott Weiland’s family alone. Have nothing to do with Scott Weiland,” he said. “I baited y’all. Chris Cornell is my fucking father. The cat is out the f*cking bag.”
The statement appears to mock the ongoing speculation while promoting his musical work.
The confusion surrounding Noah’s parentage reflects the interconnected nature of the grunge music scene. Both his father and Chris Cornell helped define this scene in the 1990s.
Wikipedia reported that Noah is one of two sons from Scott Weiland’s marriage to Mary Forsythe. Scott Weiland was best known as the lead vocalist of Stone Temple Pilots from 1989 to 2003. He established himself as a prominent figure in the alternative rock movement alongside contemporaries like Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.
The grunge era created lasting connections between musicians who often collaborated and supported each other through personal struggles. Ultimate Metal documented that Chris Cornell had previously discussed Scott Weiland’s death and the broader issue of musicians’ drug struggles. This showed the deep bonds within the grunge community.
Both Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell tragically died years ago from drug-related causes. They left behind families and musical legacies that continue to resonate with fans. WMMR noted that their deaths have inspired other musicians to reflect on the losses within their community. Former Velvet Revolver bandmate Duff McKagan created music inspired by Weiland’s passing.
The persistent speculation about Noah’s parentage appears to stem from fans’ deep connection to both musicians and their intertwined histories in the alternative rock scene. Noah’s response suggests he has grown tired of the ongoing comparisons and conspiracy theories that have followed him as he pursues his own musical career.
