Scorpions have been teasing a possible biopic, and now, we have more details. Music journalist Eddie Trunk recently shared a picture on his Instagram standing in front of the Warner Bros lot. “You may recall when I posted this photo on the Warner lot a couple weeks ago and said I couldn’t yet talk about what I was doing there? Well now Scorpions have let the cat out of the bag,” he wrote in the caption.

“There is a biopic being done on them and I was meeting with my friend Ali Afshar about it. Ali has wanted to make this movie for a long time and I’m happy for him and his team it’s a go! Also happy for Scorps this project is going forward. I read the script and it should be really good. More when I can share. Shooting starts in a few months and they hope to get it out by end of year. It’s way more than just a rock story. Great stuff,” he added.

A few days ago, frontman Klaus Meine talked about the biopic in an interview. “They start shooting around May, and then I have no idea. Hopefully in the fall. It would be great. But with these filmmaking issues, you really never know. There are a million things that can go great or can go wrong. So what do we know? We’re part of it and we support the team. But they have a clear concept about the movie and the script is pretty cool as well. But if there are things to change along the way… We’re part of it, but we stand watching with a lot of excitement. And hopefully it will be as great as the filmmakers think it will be.”

Meine added that the band is involved in both the casting and screenplay process, hoping for a release later this year. “Yeah, we participate in the script and when they go for the first checking out who can play Rudolf [Schenker, Scorpions guitarist, Matthias [Scorpions guitarist] and myself. So we stay in close touch with our friend Ali Afshar [of ESX Entertainment], who is the producer of this movie. And he has a great team, and he has a big heart, and he loves the band and he will make a very special biopic, because he’s in it, together with this team, really with heart and soul. You can tell.”

The film will cover the band’s 60-year journey and is being developed and produced by ESX Entertainment. While the project is in motion, there is no release date yet.
