Saxon have officially announced the first leg of their ‘Gods Of Thunder’ world tour, covering UK and Ireland dates.
The band shared their excitement about the upcoming tour, highlighting a special production element that longtime fans will recognize.
“The Mighty Saxon are excited to announce the ‘Gods of Thunder World Tour’ – Part 1 UK & Ireland dates with Castles & Eagles Production!” the band said.
Saxon also revealed plans to bring back one of their most iconic stage props for the run of shows.
“Adding to the excitement, Saxon will revive their legendary 30-foot mechanized Eagle for all UK & Ireland shows, with the exception of Cardiff due to venue restrictions,” the band continued. “Originally constructed in the early 1980s as Saxon prepared to tour their seminal album Denim and Leather, the iconic Eagle was built by Midlands-based company LSD using airport runway landing lights.”
Frontman Biff Byford spoke about the decision to bring back the legendary prop, expressing enthusiasm for what fans can expect.
“We wanted to make the Gods of Thunder UK & Ireland tour extra special and what better way than to fly our beloved Saxon Eagle again,” Byford said. “Get ready for take-off!”
Saxon have announced the first UK and Ireland leg of their ‘Gods Of Thunder’ world tour. Further international dates are set to be revealed in the coming months.
The tour is scheduled to kick off in February 2027. It will take the band across eleven cities throughout the UK and Ireland as part of what promises to be a landmark production.
The full run of dates begins on February 13 at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton. The band then head to Glasgow’s O2 Academy on February 14. They cross into Ireland with shows at the Telegraph Building in Belfast on February 16 and the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on February 17. The tour continues through England with stops at the O2 Apollo in Manchester on February 19, the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on February 20, and City Hall in Sheffield on February 21. The final stretch takes in The Great Hall in Cardiff on February 23, the Beacon in Bristol on February 24, the O2 Guildhall in Southampton on February 25, and concludes at the Eventim Apollo in London on February 27.
The return of the 30-foot mechanized Eagle is set to be a centerpiece of the Castles & Eagles stage production. It will accompany the band across the majority of the dates. The Eagle was originally built in the early 1980s ahead of the Denim and Leather tour. It remains one of the most recognizable stage props in British heavy metal history. Its revival signals Saxon’s intent to deliver a show that matches the scale and ambition of their classic-era live performances.
Cardiff’s Great Hall is the sole venue on the tour where the Eagle will not appear. Venue restrictions prevent its use at that particular stop. All other dates on the run are confirmed to feature the full production, giving fans across the UK and Ireland the opportunity to witness the iconic prop in action for the first time in decades.
The Gods Of Thunder World Tour represents the first confirmed chapter of a wider global campaign. Saxon have indicated that further international dates will be announced in the months ahead. The UK and Ireland leg sets the tone for what the band is positioning as one of the most ambitious touring cycles of their career.
