Sammy Hagar, who celebrated his 76th birthday on October 13, commented on different ages and their struggles. In the new videos he shared on his Beach Bar Rum Instagram account, the Van Halen rocker reminisced about his experiences in each age group.
20s Are ‘Exciting’

The Van Halen rocker thinks that 20s are the most exciting years of one’s life:
“Your 20s, I think the best part of it is that you still are so innocent and trying to find yourself that everything is really exciting. Anything that happens, [you go,] ‘Oh my God! Met this girl today’ Everything’s exciting in your 20s.”
Desperation Kicks In At 30s

According to Hagar, people think they start to get old the moment they hit their 30s. Apparently, it was the same for him as well:
“In your 30s, I think it’s tough, because most people, when they get in their 30s think they’re old. But it’s true. When I was 30 I think I’m at, ‘I feel desperate, I gotta make it, There is something going here. I gotta get rich or famous.’ 30s are kinda desperate, but the best part about it is you’re a little wiser, and you step it up a little bit. You go like, ‘Man, I’m gonna do this a little more aggressive.’ So you get more done.”
40s Are Filled With Better Decisions

Hagar thinks 40 is the age at which one’s life is filled with better decisions. It’s understandable when you consider the rocker was almost 40 years old when he first joined Van Halen. He said of 40s:
“In the 40s, the best part about the 40s is now you become kinda wise ‘Ah, I ain’t gonna be doing that again,’ or ‘I ain’t gonna be stupid.’ So you start making better decisions.”
50s: Old But Wonderful

Though one starts to age slowly when they turn 50, Hagar believes that 50s are wonderful times one can have:
“The 50s are tough because at times, you start to feel discontent. You start feeling, ‘I need more. I didn’t get enough. I should have done this, I should have done that.’ You feel like, ‘I’m getting old.’ And you’re not, again, by the way. 50s are not old, 50s are wonderful times. Actually, it should be one of your best years.”
Going Wise At 60s

When one hits 60, they get wiser and wiser each day. Well, that’s what Hagar thinks. He continued his words in a following video:
“60s, you start feeling old you start saying, ‘Oh man.’ And sometimes you get glimpses of being wise. You know what? Getting old is pretty cool as you watch your kids and they start coming to you, you’re watching them grow up. They start saying things to you, and you realize how much wiser you are now [compared to] when you were in your 20s. So it’s a good time if you’re secure.”
The Ultimate Realization At 70s

Despite being in his 70s now, Hagar is still actively making music and even touring solo, and he is aware of the fact that he is fit and healthy to do so:
“70s, I gotta tell you, if you’re secure about it and if you’re in good shape, great times my life has been in my six years. I’ve done more cool things, I know what I wanna do and what I don’t wanna do, I feel like I can do anything as long as I’m healthy and strong. I think being able to sing in form at my age is the greatest thing in the world. Cheers to 70.”
