Sammy Hagar Clears The Air About His Contributions To Van Halen Songs
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar shared a post on his official Instagram page revealing a video in which he sees a truck of his tequila brand named ‘Santo Tequila’ while he’s driving, and revealed how the songs of Van Halen were created while he was a member of Van Halen in the comments section when a fan asked.
As many of you know, Sammy Hagar started to work with Van Halen as the lead vocalist back in 1985 and the band produced four multi-platinum albums, ‘5150,’ ‘OU812,’ ‘For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge,’ and ‘Balance,’ in addition to many chart hits. Hagar eventually left Van Halen in June 1996 due to internal disputes, however, remained as an iconic frontman, being the favorite lead vocalist of Van Halen for many fans.
During his time as a member of Van Halen, Sammy Hagar also wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s songs since he’s also known for being a successful lyricist. Hagar wrote numerous Van Halen songs such as ‘It’s About Time,’ ‘Can’t Stop Lovin’ You,’ and ‘Why Can’t This Be Love.’
Recently, Sammy Hagar shared a post on his official Instagram page revealing the moment while he was driving his car and saw a truck on which there was an advertisement of his tequila brand, ‘Santo Tequila.’ Hagar teamed up with famous restaurateur Guy Fieri in order to create this tequila brand.
Although Hagar was trying to show his excitement about his project, a fan shared a comment asking Hagar a completely different question about his former band, Van Halen. That fan asked him if guitarist Eddie Van Halen wrote the music and he wrote the lyrics while working together.
Here is what the fan asked:
“Hey Sam I’ve always wondered when you and Eddie worked on songs together did he just write the music and you do the lyrics? Or did you help each other on both?”
Hagar also shared a comment under his post answering that fan’s question by stating that Eddie Van Halen wrote nearly all of the music and he took care of the lyrics. When it comes to working collectively, the duo worked on the melody of the track and the pattern was the same every single time.
Here is what Hagar said:
“Eddie pretty much wrote all the music and I wrote all the lyrics and we work together on the melody of the song like a chorus that I would sing. It was pretty much the same every time”
