Swedish metal band Sabaton has announced the postponement of their North American tour due to health concerns affecting bassist Pär Sundström, as revealed in a statement shared on Instagram.
The band addressed their fans directly, explaining the difficult decision to delay their upcoming shows across the United States and Canada.
“Important Announcement: North America tour postponed. Dear friends in the USA and Canada, Unfortunately we have to postpone our North American tour,” the band announced.
The statement continued with details about Sundström’s condition and the band’s priorities.
“Pär (Sundström) is currently dealing with inflammation in his arms, and after seeking medical advice, he’s been told to rest for now so he can properly heal,” they explained. “Performing on stage means everything to us, but health must come first.”
Sabaton expressed their regret about the impact on fans while outlining their next steps.
“We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this causes. We’re already working hard to secure new dates,” they said. “We were so excited to see you all, and that excitement hasn’t gone anywhere. We’re looking forward to the moment we can finally step on those stages!”
The band concluded by thanking their supporters and providing guidance for ticketholders.
“Thank you for your patience, your love and your constant support. It means the world to us!” they stated. “For now, please keep hold of your tickets. You will receive an e-mail notification from the official point of sale as soon as the status of the event changes or a new date is announced. Please note, the summer shows in Europe are not affected by this! We’ll be back soon, stronger than ever.”
This postponement comes at a significant time for the Swedish power metal band. They continue to build on their recent momentum in the North American market.
Arrow Lords of Metal reported that Pär Sundström serves a dual role as both the band’s bassist and manager. His health is particularly crucial to the band’s operations. His condition affects not only the musical performances but also the logistical coordination of their touring activities.
The postponed tour was planned to support their recent musical endeavors. MetalSucks noted that the tour was organized around their ‘Legends’ album, which has been gaining traction among their North American fanbase.
The band’s current lineup has undergone recent changes that add context to this postponement. Blabbermouth revealed that guitarist Thobbe Englund rejoined the band in February 2024 after previously departing in 2016. He was among those who signed the postponement statement alongside the other members.
The announcement, made on January 28, 2026, emphasizes the band’s commitment to their European summer shows, which remain unaffected by Sundström’s condition. This selective postponement demonstrates the band’s careful consideration of the bassist’s recovery timeline while maintaining their other touring commitments where possible.
