Rolling Stones Ronnie Wood Says ‘I’m Going Through A Lot Of Problems Now’ And Details What He’s Been Through
During a recent interview with The Sun, the Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood revealed that he was recently diagnosed with cancer, for the second time following his battle with lung cancer in 2017, and said that he battled it during the pandemic by trusting his ‘higher power.’
As you probably know, The Rolling Stones was founded by Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, and Ian Stewart in 1962. However, Brian Jones left the band in 1969 and was replaced by Mick Taylor, who was then replaced by Ronnie Wood in 1975. Since then, Wood has remained a solid member of the band and has contributed immensely to its success.
In 2017, Ronnie Wood was diagnosed with lung cancer which necessitated the partial removal of his lung. The rockstar had refused to go through chemotherapy as he didn’t want to lose his hair, and after a fierce fight, Wood was declared cancer-free. However, in his recent interview, he revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer after the outbreak of COVID-19 but relieved his fans by saying that he’s healthy now.
During the interview, Ronnie Wood said that he’s had two different types of cancer; lung cancer in 107 and a small cell or carcinoma which he ‘fought in the last lockdown.’ He said that he’s going through ‘a lot of problems now’ but that throughout his recovery, he stopped worrying about them and instead chose to trust what the future holds and just concentrate on staying positive and healthy so as to fight it.
Here’s what Ronnie Wood said during the interview:
“I’ve had cancer two different ways now. I had lung cancer in 2017, and I had a small cell more recently, that I fought in the last lockdown.
I’m going through a lot of problems now but throughout my recovery, you have to let it go. And when you hand the outcome over to your higher power, that is a magic thing. That brings you back to the (AA and NA’s) Serenity Prayer: ‘Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.’ That’s incredible. What will be will be, it’s nothing to do with me. All I can do is stay positive in my attitude, be strong and fight it, and the rest is up to my higher power.”
