Queen drummer Roger Taylor recently opened up about the possibility of the band returning to the live stage.
Taylor addressed the question of whether Queen could make a comeback to live performances. He pointed to guitarist Brian May as the key factor in that decision.
“Well, it is a big machine to gear up, if you know what I mean. But, yeah, really, I think it’s more down to Brian than me,” Taylor said. “I love playing live. I enjoy it, always have. It’s really how he feels about it. So if we both wanna do it, I’d be happy to. But we’ll see. Never say never.”
Taylor also touched on the band’s ongoing collaboration with their current touring vocalist.
“We have been working for a while with Adam Lambert, who has the most incredible voice,” he continued.
The comments suggest that while Taylor remains enthusiastic about performing live, any future Queen shows will largely depend on May’s willingness to take the stage again.
Queen and Lambert’s Rhapsody Tour spanned an extraordinary 126 shows. It combined theatrical staging with the band’s classic rock catalogue in a spectacle that drew audiences across multiple continents. The tour cemented Lambert’s place as a formidable live presence alongside May and Taylor. It also demonstrated that Queen’s music retains its power to fill arenas decades after its original recordings. The most recent confirmed date of the Rhapsody Tour took place on February 14, 2024, at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Since then, no new tour dates have been announced, and there are currently no scheduled Queen + Adam Lambert concerts on the horizon for 2026 or 2027.
During the 2023 North American leg of the tour — a 23-date run that opened in Baltimore and closed in Los Angeles — May expressed his determination to push the production further. He promised the shows would get “even more ambitious” than previous runs. That ambition was reflected in the scale and spectacle the tour ultimately delivered.
With no new dates confirmed and Taylor placing the decision squarely in May’s hands, the future of Queen as a live act remains an open question. For now, the “never say never” sentiment from Taylor may be the closest thing fans have to a reason for optimism.
