Robert Plant’s Unusual Music Taste Doesn’t Get Approval Of His Girlfriend

Robert Plant spoke of starting the day with an album from Alan Lomax’s collection in a recent chat with Classic Rock. He recalled a memory tied to one of the recordings:

“I spoke to Shirley Collins some time aback about the day they were in Como, Mississippi, and they were bringing their afternoon to an end, and into the clearing came [blues singer] Mississippi Fred McDowell, who nobody had heard play before, and he sat up and started playing. Can you imagine, coming from the English countryside or wherever it is, and ending up with Alan Lomax in Como, Mississippi, and a guy comes through the clearing having done a day’s work and starts playing like that?”

Then, he mentioned his current girlfriend’s reaction to his daily habit:

“I carry that with me. It’s all-consuming. I’m so much in love with it. It’s a great way of starting the day. I’m not sure whether my dog or my lady friend is particularly keen on hearing it, but it works fine.”

Robert Plant’s Latest Relationship

Little is known about Plant’s partner at the moment because he’s been secretive about his love life so far. His last known relationship was with Patty Griffin in the early 2010s.

The two broke up in 2016 after rumors about a possible marriage. The Led Zeppelin singer confirmed to The Independent:

“Patty and I tried a sort of zig-zag across the Atlantic, but she didn’t share my penchant for cider, and she used to marvel at the Black Country character I became after four pints of Thatchers. My feelings are very much ones of sadness and regret.”

Griffin released a demo she recorded with Plant during their relationship as part of her ‘TAPE’ album in 2022.

The Talks About His Love Life

Fans online later suggested that Robert Plant started dating Alison Krauss following his breakup with Patty Griffin. Their joint album ‘Raise the Roof’ fueled the rumors in 2021, but the duo denied a romantic partnership.

Krauss clarified that their relationship was solely based on their music. Plant commented to People:

“Because if we had that one, we’d be in trouble now. Trouble, party of one.”

Plant and Krauss also worked together on the 2007 album ‘Raising Sand.’
