Robert DeLeo has shared his thoughts about Stone Temple Pilots’ 2008 reunion during an appearance on The Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan.

“[Scott Weiland] didn’t show up the first day of rehearsal in very good health,” DeLeo said. “And we’re like, ‘Alright. Should we pack this up?'”

“It brought up, I think that day was for me, it was like, it brought up a lot of ghosts,” he continued. “And I remember just going, ‘You know what? I’m f*cking going home.'”

DeLeo’s comments shed light on the band’s 2008 reunion with Scott Weiland following their 2003 breakup.

These initial concerns did not prevent the reunion from becoming a significant chapter in the band’s history.

Records from Concert Archives show the band performed more than 90 shows during their 2008 tour.

Deseret News praised their June 2008 Utah performance for its solid delivery and energy.

The reconciliation proved short-lived. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Weiland’s ongoing addiction struggles led to his dismissal from the band in 2013.

These challenges foreshadowed darker times ahead. Weiland’s tragic passing in 2015 marked the end of an era for Stone Temple Pilots.
