RHCP bassist Flea turned out to be a Cheryl Lynn fan.
The bassist took to X to share his reaction about the one thing he found out about the ‘Encore’ singer. When a user asked why her hit song ‘Encore’ had never been nominated, Lynn said:
“Baby, I’ve never even been nominated.”
To the bassist’s shock, he replied by reassuring her that she did not need to have a ‘stinking Grammy’ and shared a moment from his childhood about the singer:
“Well, when I was in high school, my first ever band covered ‘Got To Be Real,’ and it gave me profound joy. I love you always Cheryl Lynn! You rock! You don’t need no stinking Grammy.”
Lynn’s Contributions To Music Industry

Lynn rose to fame after her standout performance on The Gong Show. She signed with Columbia Records, and her breakthrough came with the release of ‘Got to Be Real,’ reaching No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the R&B chart. The success led to her debut album, ‘Cheryl Lynn’ to sell over a million copies.
The first single, ‘I’ve Got Just What You Need’ from her second album, ‘In Love,’ achieved success on the R&B chart, while ‘Keep It Hot’ became a club hit. She contributed to Toto’s ‘Georgy Porgy,’ marking the band’s only R&B and dance hit on the Billboard chart. The single ‘Encore,’ became her second No. 1 R&B hit. Despite her hits that are still listened to by many today, has not received any award nominations to date.
