Red Hot Chili Peppers won’t be taking the stage at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas as initially scheduled. According to a new Instagram post, the band, set to perform this weekend at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, had to cancel due to an injury affecting one of their members:

“It is with deep regret that we will not be able to perform this weekend at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. A band member was injured, preventing us from being able to perform for at least 6 weeks. However, RHCP and KROQ are excited to make it up to you on March 2nd, 2024, at The Forum. So, have a great time this weekend, and hang on to your ticket.”

The Announcement Scared Some Fans

While RHCP didn’t reveal which member was injured or how serious it was, some fans in the comments section took issue with the tone of the announcement as it sounded like death news. Someone wrote:

“If nobody is dead, can y’all not start off a sentence in a dead announcement-y way like that ever again?”

Another user commented:

“Bruh, I thought someone died; my heart dropped.”

The Band Has Plans For Their Return

The KROQ Christmas concert will continue with performances from The Offspring, Garbage, Portugal. The Man, Cannons, Bleachers, Lovejoy, Bakar, and The Beaches. Meanwhile, the closest show for RHCP’s ‘Unlimited Love Tour’ will take place in February.

After headlining The Forum in March 2024, the band will kick off a new trek to keep supporting their ‘Return Of The Dream Canteen’ album. The upcoming shows will begin on May 28 at the RV Inn Style Resorts Amphitheater in Ridgefield, Washington, featuring smaller venues than their previous stadium dates.
