Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy Favors Taylor Swift Over Mötley Crüe

Lip-syncing is frowned upon by music critics and fans, and it seems like Ratt’s Stephen Pearcy is among those who don’t support it. In a recent video message to Syncin’ Staley YouTube channel, Pearcy said he sides with Taylor Swift rather than Mötley Crüe because she makes ‘the real sh*t.’

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard’s co-headlining Stadium Tour was one of the most anticipated events of last year. However, there were still some issues. During the show on June 5, 2022, Vince Neil was seen using a teleprompter, which raised questions among fans. According to Dee Snider, Vince Neil needed it because of his longtime use of substances.

According to Stephen Pearcy’s recent remarks, Mötley Crüe uses another thing during their live shows: backing tracks. Speaking in the video he released, Pearcy argued that pop stars like Taylor Swift might need lip-syncing. He then changed his mind and said Swift doesn’t need backing tracks because she is ‘a real gal.’

Following that, the vocalist went on to say that his peers, such as Mötley Crüe, use backing tracks everywhere. He said that even Nikki Sixx uses bass tracks during shows, and this bothers him a lot. Pearcy then added that he wouldn’t do that during his shows because he is an old-school artist who loves ‘the real sh*t.’

Here is what Stephen Pearcy said about lip-syncing:

“Well, there are artists who need that — the Taylor Swifts and all these other people, maybe. Maybe not even her; she’s a real kind of gal. I think it’s bullsh*t, really. And my peers are doing that sh*t.

I love my guys in Mötley Crüe, but when that sh*t is everywhere — on stage, and your bass is piped in — that stuff kind of eats me. But it’s not my gig. I don’t do it. I wouldn’t do it. I’m old school — new-minded, but old school. I love the real sh*t. But, you know, it is what it is.”

So, Stephen Pearcy accuses Mötley Crüe of using backing tracks during shows and believes that this isn’t a rock star thing. According to Pearcy, Taylor Swift’s musicianship is more real than Crüe’s because at least she doesn’t need lip-syncing.
