A new study by LLTattoo has revealed which rock and metal bands inspire the most tattoos.
The research looked at search volume data to find out how many people are searching for tattoos related to or inspired by famous rock bands.
Pink Floyd is at the top of the list, with tattoos related to the band getting an average of 13,000 searches per month. Guns N’ Roses comes in second, with tattoos related to the band getting an average of 10,675 searches each month.
While Pink Floyd and Guns N’ Roses are on the top of the list, Rammstein takes third place, surpassing Metallica and Linkin Park. The band got 10,558 searches per month.
Metallica is in fourth place, with tattoos of the band getting an average of 9,367 searches each month. Linkin Park appears in sixth place, with tattoos related to them getting 8,425 searches per month.
The rest of the list continues with Nirvana in 5th place, Slipknot in 7th, Twenty One Pilots in 8th, Iron Maiden in 9th and Tool on 10th place.
Mentor Dedaj of LLTattoo shared his thoughts on the study. “It’s very interesting to see which rock bands inspire the most tattoo pieces around the world. Rock music and ink are seemingly inseparable, and tats are almost obligatory to big rock heads,” he said.
Dedaj added: “Having inked people in our studio with pieces influenced by some of these artists, some of the results are unsurprising. However, there are also a few interesting bands included in the top ten, as well as a few that surprisingly didn’t make the list.”
A similar research study was conducted by Ticketsource last year. According to research, Pink Floyd is the rock and metal artist that has inspired the most tattoos. The band unsurprisingly ranks high on the list. Ticketsource found 30,397 Instagram posts showing Pink Floyd tattoos. The top 10 is dominated by rock and metal acts, with Slipknot in third place, Nirvana in fifth, Iron Maiden in sixth, David Bowie in ninth, and Metallica in tenth.
