Queen frontman Adam Lambert opened up about a major personal and professional turning point in his life, as reported by American Songwriter. The singer discussed how his breakup with Oliver Gliese and relocation to New York served as the emotional foundation for his upcoming solo album, Adam, set for release on July 10.
Lambert spoke candidly about the personal changes that directly shaped the sound and themes of the new record.
“I got out of a five year relationship and I moved to New York. I just made the decision last year: ‘I think it’s time to make a change,'” Lambert said. “I think that clean slate was a big inspiration for a lot of the music.”
He went on to explain how his new environment and mindset became deeply intertwined with the creative process.
“The fact that I’m in this new headspace and new physical space is directly tied to the things that I’m exploring and learning about myself, and chapters that I’ve closed and new ones that I’m opening,” he continued.
Lambert also touched on the professional restructuring that accompanied his personal transformation, highlighting a key addition to his team.
“Another change is that my team is a bit restructured, and that’s in a really good place, so entering the writing process on this felt really positive,” he said. “I ended up hiring Jessica Thomas to do my A&R, who’s incredible. I brought her in right at the beginning and started spitballing with her and having these great conversations about the sound that I was after, and the style and the mood.”
The personal and professional reset appears to have produced one of the most emotionally layered projects of Lambert’s career, with the album drawing from both the highs and lows of his recent years.
Adam is Lambert’s sixth solo studio album, marking a significant milestone in a recording career that has spanned well over a decade. The record arrives on his own label, distributed via The Orchard, giving Lambert a level of creative and commercial independence he has not had before, as Attitude reported.
Lambert described the album as exploring “the light and shade of life,” capturing the emotional tension between joy, guilt, resilience, and healing, qMeet NL noted. The themes reflect the turbulent personal period that preceded the recording sessions, making the album a direct artistic response to the changes he has navigated.
Lambert has also announced four intimate release-week shows to celebrate the album’s launch, Entertainment Focus reported. The run concludes in Berlin on July 23. The shows are expected to give fans an early, up-close look at the new material in a setting that mirrors the personal nature of the record itself.
Adam is scheduled for release on July 10.
